MEMBERSHIP
TIERS
A membership level for all...
NAWBO Greater St.
Louis Chapter membership is open to sole proprietors,
partners, and corporate owners with day-to-day
management responsibility. New or emerging
business owners can join at a reduced rate to begin
reaping the benefits of NAWBO while building their
business. Supporters/partners who are not
currently an active business owner but who either wish
to network with/provide resources to women business
owners or who wish to become a woman business owner
someday are also welcome as a Supporting Member.
NAWBO Greater St.
Louis Chapter members reside in the greater St. Louis,
St. Charles, St. Peters and Southern Illinois metro
areas.
St.
Louis Chapter Annual Membership Tiers and Fees
Student Member*
(Non-Voting Member)
An individual who is a student registered full-time at
a school or university, who subscribes to the
objective of NAWBO and has interest in a future in
entrepreneurship. This category is NOT available
online; and any application submitted to the National
office without chapter approval will be denied.
National + Local = $85
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
Emerging Business
Owner (Non-Voting Member)
For a new business owner (in business for two years or
less). A non-voting category limited to two years,
members receive all communications and publications,
are eligible for all discounts and benefits, and are
listed in the online member directory.
National + Local = $125
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
Established Business
Owner (Voting Member)
For a business owner who has been in business for more
than two years. A regular voting category, members
receive all communications and publications, are
eligible for all discounts and benefits, and are
listed in the online member directory. Chapter
membership is automatic for those whose businesses are
located in a chapter area. To qualify for membership,
members must own a percentage of their company.
National + Local = $230
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
Retired Member*
(Non-Voting Member)
Shall be an individual who was a Chapter or At-Large
member of NAWBO for at least five (5) years and has
sold, divested their interest, or is no longer
operating their business. This category is not
available online.
National + Local = $85
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
Sustaining Member
(Voting Member)
A business owner as defined in the NAWBO Policies and
Procedures and is a Chapter member or an At-Large
Member who wishes to support the organization in a
larger monetary way and gain additional benefits. A
member in this classification has one (1) vote.
National + Local = $480
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
At-Large Member
(Voting Member)
A business owner whose business and residence are not
located within a Chapter’s organization territory. A
member in this classification has one (1) vote and is
under the supervision of NAWBO. All voting members
must belong to a chapter of NAWBO if one exists in
their area.
National + Local = $360
An additional one-time $25 registration fee will be
required upon payment of first year’s dues.
Supporting Member*
(Non-Voting Member)
An individual who subscribes to the objectives of
NAWBO and wishes to lend support to NAWBO through
membership. Supporting Membership requests must be
submitted directly to their respective chapter for
approval. This category is NOT available online; and
any application submitted to the National office
without chapter approval will be denied. *Membership
applications for Supporting, Student and Retired
categories must be submitted to your local chapter for
preapproval.
National + Local = $330
An additional one-time
$25 registration fee will be required upon payment of
first year’s dues.
*NAWBO Definition
of Business Owner
A business owner must a sole proprietor, commissioned
agent, broker, independent contractor, shareholder in
a corporation or consultant that:
- is established as
either a sole proprietor or self-employed, or is a
partner in a Partnership, LLC or is an officer of
a C Corporation or S Corporation AND
- files a schedule C
or F, received IRA Tax form 1099 from clients or
files corporate or partnership tax returns.
- in addition, the
business owner must maintain an office (including
home offices) or a business facility and must be
involved in the policy-making process and overall
day-to-day management of the business.
NOTE:
Membership in NAWBO is recorded in the name of the
individual, not the organization. All applicants
are reviewed by a Membership Committee. You will
be notified within 30 days if your application has
been accepted. If accepted, your dues payment is
non-refundable. Your membership dues are not
deductible as a charitable contribution for Federal
Income Tax purposes. In compliance with Omnibus
Budget Reconcilliation Act of 1993, it is estimated
that only 6% of the payment in nondeductible as a
business expense.
